CHOQUEQUIRAO- THE OTHER MACHU PICCHU

THURSDAY, 18, FEBRUARY, 2010

We are pleased to announce that the Choquequirao Trek in Cusco is now available for booking.

Choquequirao, considered to be the sister of Machu Picchu, is truly a lost city of the Incas. Its located at a height of 3.085 m, much higher than Machu Picchu but lesser known to the general public. This is a good thing, because mass tourism hasnt yet overtaken and its still a Inca site you can visit without a 60-person Japanese tour group and two tour guides with umbrellas and megaphones.

Choquequirao sits in the saddle of a high Andean ridgeabove the roaring Apurimac river and bears a striking similarity in structureand architecture to its famous sibling. Only 30-40 % has been so far uncovered from the wild vegetation. Twenty-five years ago, Machu Picchu must havelooked much like this, so come and enjoy it now whilst its still pristine and secluded.

If you want to push yourself to the max on a hike of a lifetime the magestic ruins of Choquequirao are 4 days trek away from Cusco.
